Since this podcast Innes has competed in the 5000m (Fast5000 in France). She was attempting to break the U20 women's record. This record has stood for 40 years, held by Zola Bud. At the track, the extremely windy conditions on the night made fast times and PBs impossible!
On 15th June Innes made her Diamond League debut in Stockholm in the women's 5000m. A brilliant run, tactically perfect which took on to the podium in 3rd place, beating the reigning British 5000m Champion, Hannah Nuttall into 4th.
Jo and her husband Gav coach Innes, and we have been following her career for several years. Listen to her story so far here!

Louise was training for the virtual London Marathon in 2022 when she was diagnosed with Lobular Breast cancer, it was a complete shock as her mammogram had been clear three weeks earlier. Breast cancer broke her and her family but she was determined not to let it take away her dream of running the Virtual London Marathon so she carried on training throughout both her Mastectomies and Radiotherapy.
Louise will be running for 'Breast Cancer Now' in London 2024. It has been her dream to run in London and spread her important messages, to raise awareness of breast cancer, reduce the stigma of scars and promote body positivity.
Louise is topless and will be the first woman in the world to run a Marathon topless so this is a massive moment for her and for history. "I am grateful that I can run, that I am alive and that I have been given the chance to see my kids grow up. I owe my life to it."
This is such a moving story. Shortly after joining Running At 40 Plus, Jo Wilinska was diagnosed with breast cancer. She shared this all with our community with her posts, the good and the bad. We are truly thankful for her honesty, her spirit and most of all the inspiration she gave and still continues to give us all, throughout her journey.
We are truly thankful that Jo Wilinska (aka GI Jo) is now a year past her last Chemo, and to be able to share this in conversation with her and our ambassador Jo Pavey at Jo and Gav Pavey's home.
It was emotional for them both, but we hope this helps any runner, or soon to be runner, that there's a group out there that supports each other, no matter what, to inspire and be inspired.
