The Calm Following The Storm With Closure Coach Stephanie Hartwell

In today’s episode I talk to Stephanie Hartwell

Stephanie is trauma-informed Closure Coach, co-host of the podcast Rise Like A Phoenix, and founder of the Heart EQ Academy, where she offers courses and one-to-one sessions designed to equip people with essential Emotional Life Skills.

Through her work, Stephanie guides others in discovering how to calm the nervous system, walk the path toward lasting closure, and release old patterns that keep them trapped in cycles of pain, anxiety, and unacknowledged loss. Her approach helps people move beyond survival and create lives grounded in authenticity, deeper connection, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The conversation dives deeply  into the often-silent struggle of trauma survival anxiety, the exhausting state of living with a nervous system that feels constantly on high alert.

Stephanie explains how this survival mode infiltrates daily life, shaping our choices, our relationships, and even our sense of identity.

We touch on the ways unhealed wounds can disguise themselves as grief, regret, or fear, and how closure is less about erasing the past and more about loosening its hold so that new meaning and possibility can take shape.

We discuss how true strength is not about being unshakable, but about learning how to return to ourselves after life has tested us.

Offering practical steps on how we can begin to soothe the body, calm the mind, and step out of old stories that no longer serve us, this episode is an invitation to see healing as a lived experience, a chance to understand how we can move beyond survival and begin to live, feel whole, connected, and realise that we hold the power to change our life.

Unleashing Kindness The Story Of Santerpaws Dog Charity With Founder Justine Garratt
In today’s episode I talk to Justine Garratt. Justine is the founder of Santerpaws Bulgarian Dog Rescue.  Justine was brought up in the Cornish countryside surrounded by a variety of animals. Brought up in the seventies, she enjoyed the life of freedom, and making the most of these times, being out in the evenings and making tree houses, yet as she got older with little prospects of a decent job in Cornwall at that time, she looked at the police force and the prison service, applied for both but chose to pursue a career in the prison service. Her entire professional life was within the prison service, and in 2013 she took early retirement. She says she always imagined when she left the prison service that she would leave the UK and start afresh somewhere abroad. When she finally left her job she departed for Bulgaria, with all her belongings in the back of a horse box, and her three dogs. After three weeks of working on her new home, she took some rubbish to the local skip and inside found six newborn puppies.   She decided that they couldn’t be left there and brought them home.   After that incident, the locals started to dump puppies on her doorstep, throwing them over her hedge, knowing she would look after them and after a year, while talking to her friend in the UK, she asked her how she would feel about setting up a charity, and so Santerpaws was born. The establishment has the capacity to house one hundred and fifty dogs, and roughly always has at least fifty animals waiting to come in.   They have homed almost seven thousand dogs in ten years. Justine talks about some of the terrible conditions that the dogs she rescues arrive in and how she and her team help to find them their forever homes, some of them having been neglected for years For more information on Santerpaws and their work visit: https://santerpawsbulgarianrescue.com/ For more information on Mimi Novic visit: https://www.miminovic.co.uk

He is on a mission, and that mission is to ignite change, foster connections, and promote wellness and positivity. After an idyllic childhood on a Canadian farm, his world turned upside down when his mother passed away tragically on his 21st birthday. Roads To Recovery With Addiction & Recovery Coach Jim Savage
In today’s episode I talk to Jim Savage. Jim is a drug and alcohol counsellor who has been working as an expert in his field for over thirty years. Jim himself is a recovering addict and has been sober since 1988. In addition to his clinical background, Jim is also a professional musician and producer. He is dedicated to using music and the creative arts to carry a positive message about recovery. From rock musicals to musical meditation programs, he uses creative material as teaching tools to aid recovery. After running his own adolescent treatment program for ten years he wrote a book called Rehab Works! A Parent's Guide To Drug Treatment. He has gone on to develop an entire educational programme for families and individuals. In this episode Jim talks about his own personal recovery and how this led him to become a recovery coach and specialist who is now helping others on their journey to overcome addictions. We talk about why people become influenced by substances to the point that it can take over their whole existence and what are the more deeper psychological and spiritual reasons that makes an individual allow their dependancy to lead to the destruction of their life. An open and eye opening talk that goes some way into looking behind the veil of addiction and its affect on the mind, body and spirit.
