The John and Gordy Show
Gordy Turns Into a Frog. John Saves On Car Insurance. (Hour 3)
As we begin our third hour, Gordy shares a funny story of an AI mishap. A police department in Utah has been using artificial intelligence to turn bodycam footage into police reports, but the program apparently had difficulty distinguishing between reality and a movie that was playing in the background. The finished report declares that the police officer had been transformed into a frog. Maybe some jobs are too critical to fully replace with AI.  After taking a few more calls comparing Wednesday’s Minneapolis ICE shooting to the Kent State shooting, John pivots to another one of his favorite topics: the absolute mess that is American insurance. He and Gordy chat about ways to navigate the complicated systems to save some money in the absence of reform.

Reviewing New Minneapolis ICE Footage (Hour 2)
In today’s second hour, John and Gordy review the newly-released video from the Minneapolis ICE shooter’s perspective. Online, people on both sides of the political spectrum are using this new evidence to prove their own points, and only time will tell how the courts view it. Here on this show, we believe that the video demonstrates the peaceful nature of the victim’s actions, as she can be heard telling the ICE agent that she’s “not mad” at him. After that, in the span of a few seconds, the victim is commanded to get out of her car. She begins to drive away, the agent shouts and lowers his phone, and we hear the gunshots. After shooting and killing the victim, the ICE agent quietly calls her a “f—ing bitch.” John and Gordy do not believe that this was a situation that called for deadly force. They also share a tribute to Renee Good that celebrates her motherly instincts.

You Wouldn’t Want an “Emergency License” Airline Pilot (Hour 1)
As we wrap up another crazy week, the guys try to keep the reins on the show while Kathryn throws a holiday party right outside the studio. More information is emerging about Wednesday’s tragic ICE shooting in Minneapolis. John has rounded up some of the most interesting takes around the internet to share with us.  At the bottom of the hour, Dr. Tim Slekar of BustED Pencils returns for his weekly visit to talk education. Education programs around the country are suffering, and Wisconsin is no exception. One proposed solution to our shortage of employed teachers is to issue emergency education licenses, but Tim doesn’t think this is such a great idea. Ultimately, he believes that one of our biggest issues is the deterioration of working conditions for educators. He walks through some possible ways to solve these problems. Guest: Dr. Tim Slekar

Weekly Best of John and Gordy Show for Dec 13
Funny Moments from John and Gordy John and Gordy recount a hilarious and relatable experience from a very cold Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field, highlighting the extreme Wisconsin winter conditions. Caller Steve shares that his beer was dripping down his chin and freezing, causing a "beer bib" to form, and they couldn't feel it happening because their faces were so numb. Another speaker follows up with a story about her 19-year-old nephew, who had eaten something, and it was frozen solid on his face; he couldn't even tell it was there when she asked him if he had ever heard of a napkin. In this best of, the guys joke about the strange places where an Elvis impersonator might perform at a County Fair, suggesting he'd be right next to the tractor pulls and the carnival clowns, calling it a "choice gig". Later, while discussing the financial troubles of Wisconsin Eye, the public affairs network, they sarcastically suggest that John and Gordy should hold a fund drive on the sidewalks of State Street, passing a hat, to help fund it. Finally, they end with a laugh about the irony of the network's name: "It's an eye on Wisconsin," as they observe that one never would have thought of that. Guest: Pam Jahnke
