Finding Hope in Recovery: A Journey Through an Eating Disorder
In a deeply moving and inspirational conversation, Samy, a physiotherapist from Newcastle, shares her remarkable journey from the depths of an eating disorder to a place of strength and self-discovery. Starting with an unexpected trigger from a parasite infection, her story weaves through challenges, setbacks, and ultimately triumph. What makes her narrative particularly powerful is her transformation from viewing her body as something to control to celebrating its strength through bodybuilding and yoga. Through finding the right therapeutic support with ACT therapy and developing a healthier relationship with exercise, Samy's journey reminds us that recovery, while not linear, is absolutely possible. Her powerful quote, "What would you do if this wasn't you? If you didn't have this eating disorder, what could you do with your life?" serves as a beacon of hope for others facing similar struggles.
