WE'RE SO BACK. Shaking off the rust, we're coming back after 4 years and doing an episode where we start off with some hypnosis and then break down a few of the techniques inside of it in bite-sized pieces.

We discuss the idea of emotional sadomasochism -- what is it about being mean, making someone uncomfortable, that is so hot? How does this relate to manipulation? This episode contains demonstrations of conversational sadism throughout and calls back to our conversations about being evil or "wrong" in a relationship.

We did a lovely rope scene on the day of recording, and came to a lot of breakthroughs in terms of how kinesthetic elements relate to communication in hypnosis (as well as rope) scenes, ideas about pacing and leading, and our relationship. This was a super fun drunk episode with some good shmoopy stuff and some big thinky stuff too. Enjoy!

In this topic (suggested by GleefulAbandon), we dive into the idea of mixing different kinds of pain with hypnosis -- how does this work? Can pain be an induction method? What kinds of qualities should we be thinking about when considering different aspects of impact? Also, this was one of our favorite trances in a long time :)

We sit down for a nice chat reminiscing about the myths about hypnosis that we had to unlearn for ourselves over the time we've been doing all of this -- some of the usual and some stuff that might not be as common (but who knows)! In this episode, we take a crack at the question, "How should we approach teaching hypnosis to beginners?" It's deceptively complex and we wanted to try something completely different that doesn't rely on existing frameworks. This is an interesting idea for anyone to parse -- beginners, experienced players, and especially educators. (Plus, sleepingirl REALLY enjoyed doing the trance in this episode and we're starting to do some breakdown afterwards!)

OK -- we tried doing a heavy, serious topic and we weren't feeling physically or mentally up to it. But we were drunk and wanted to make something, so we turned on the microphone and just talked. We go through some anime stuff, some hypnosis stuff, some stuff about musicals, movies, and a WHOLE LOT of just belligerent bullshitting. This is not a usual episode, and there's only a few nuggets of good hypnosis knowledge, but if you enjoy just chilling out and listening to us chat and laugh like fools, please enjoy it! Building off of sleepingirl's recent article about becoming a skilled subject (see links below), we dig into some experiences and ideas that can help us improve as subjects (and help hypnotists take advantage of and build those skills in their partners). We also get to talk about some concepts from NLP that tie in, such as "chunking" and "reframing!"
