A milder, mostly cloudy weekend is on tap, with highs in the low 40s. A few flurries or sprinkles are possible early Saturday morning, but the rest of the weekend will be dry. The colder air returns as the work week begins.

Some of the coldest air of the season takes hold on Friday. Morning lows will drop to the single digits to the low 20s. Highs only reach the lower 30s. A snow shower is possible south of New York City, but little to no accumulation is expected.

Arctic air arrives on a cold wind later Thursday, especially at night, with some single-digit lows in the far north and western suburbs by Friday morning. A storm passes to our south later Friday, and we cannot rule out a bit of snow, especially south of the city.

Wednesday is the pick of the week as sunshine returns with seasonable temperatures. Arctic air arrives Thursday night into Friday with highs fighting for freezing.

You might see early morning flakes, but Tuesday's storm will be more wet than snowy for most. Expect the heaviest rain to fall around 11 am until 4 p.m. and then be careful of refreeze Tuesday night.

The holiday will feel brisk and cold. Morning parade temperatures hover near 42 degrees, but strong west winds gusting 30-35 mph will make it feel like the 30s all day. These gusts are near the threshold for balloon restrictions, so Thanksgiving Day Parade organizers may need to keep balloons lower than usual.

Wednesday will be very mild for November with a lingering shower. Thanksgiving Day will be blustery and chilly with sunny to partly cloudy skies. It's going to feel like the 30s for the Thanksgiving Day Parade because of the wind. Those strong gusts could impact the parade balloons.
