The Katha Upanishad is one of the primary Upanishads, and is embedded in the last eight short sections of the Katha school of the Krishna Yajurveda. The text is divided into two chapters, each consisting of three sections. The first chapter is considered to be of older origin than the second. The Upanishad tells the story of a young boy named Nachiketa who meets Yama, the god of death, and engages in a philosophical discussion with him about the nature of the self, knowledge, and liberation.
The Isha Upanishad (Sanskrit: ईशोपनिषद्, IAST: Īśopaniṣad), also known as Shri Ishopanishad, Ishavasya Upanishad, or Vajasaneyi Samhita Upanishad, is one of the shortest Upanishads, embedded as the final chapter (adhyāya) of the Shukla Yajurveda. It is a Mukhya (primary, principal) Upanishad, and is known in two recensions, called Kanva (VSK) and Madhyandina (VSM). The Upanishad is a brief poem, consisting of 17 or 18 verses, depending on the recension.
Vedantasara is a 15th-century Advaita Vedanta text written by Sadananda Yogendra Saraswati. It is an important prakarana-grantha (topical introductory text) that provides a methodical understanding of the essence of Vedanta.
Swami Sarvapriyananda teaches the Mundaka Upanishad which one of the major Upanishads belonging to the Atharva Veda. Mundaka means ''shaved'' like a shaved head. The teachings revealed in this Upanishad are meant to leave the student clean, or shaved of the veil of ignorance. Indeed, the study of this Upanishad has been traditionally confined to the shaven-heads, or the sannyasins, who have renounced everything and devoted themselves exclusively to contemplation.
