2か所のロケット発射場を抱える「宇宙に最も近い県」鹿児島。
2024年度はH3やイプシロンSなど、話題性のあるロケットが次々に打ち上げられる計画があるが、県民の宇宙への関心や企業の宇宙産業への参入は、いまひとつ盛り上がっていない面もある。
「未来の宇宙旅行」などで関心は徐々に高まってはいるが、宇宙をもっと身近に感じてもらうため、“宇宙教育の父“とも呼ばれる的川泰宣（まとがわ やすのり）先生が、「鹿児島と宇宙の関わりや歴史」、「裾野が広い宇宙産業」、「宇宙開発の日本の立ち位置と課題」、「宇宙人材の育成」などについて分かりやすく解説する。
