Today we are talking about making new habits attractive as we continue to share what we are learning from James Clear’s book Atomic Habits. If you want to create new habits, make them attractive to you so you choose to do it by combining a need to a want such as the need to do the dishes and I want to watch a show. We can make dishes more attractive and we choose to watch a show while doing the dishes.

Today is the start of our new featured book. “Building a Resilient Life - how adversity awakens strength, hope and meaning” Written by Rebekah Lyons
In today’s episode we chat about different seasons of adversity in our life that made us stronger even though the situations were challenging. We also share about others in our lives that are examples of resilient friends that inspire us to keep going.
We all face different seasons of adversity; some can include self-doubt, physical injuries/illness, rejection, poverty, loss of a loved one and struggling to succeed in a chosen career.
We hope today’s episode helps you walk through the challenges you might be facing right now. Our heart was very encouraged by Psalm 30 and verse 2 stood out especially to Corrie “Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.”
Hello Friends! We are wrapping up our featured book, Find Your People, By Jennie Allen, with this question she asks the readers “What if God wants to shake up our perceptions and expectations of what community and family should look like?
We share our stories of when we were feeling at the end of our strength quickly approaching burnout and the desire to quit and leave was intense and felt like an easier choice. But we both chose to have our perception of what it means to be in community help us to listen to Jesus’ heart to live in community and to stay. Ephesians chapter 4 encourages that we will be built up in love when we stay connected to our people. Join us today to fight to stay in a relationship to choose to stay and grow and change.

Hello Friends! We are in Chapter 8, Deep -Illustration: shovel Goal: Shared purpose, Barrier: Shallow/small talk.
Our lives can become fractured and compartmentalized when we only see people in single spheres of our lives. This can lead us to loneliness and isolation. The depth of relationship develops when people see all the parts of our lives: the good and the bad. Friends with shared purpose experience greater depth and meaning together.
Find things in your life that need to be done and invite someone to do them with you!

Hello Friends! We are in Chapter 6, Safe today with the illustration of
OPEN DOORS Goal: transparency Barrier: Pain/shame
This was a challenging chapter to read and to record, putting ourselves out there to practice being vulnerable about past friendship hurts and the fear of trying again and again. We take down some walls brick by brick to reveal our struggles and pain of being a friend and being truly known and loved. This chapter helps better equip us to find the balance of matching another person's level of transparency in a friendship. This can feel tricky sometimes, but with Jesus’ help we can learn and grow and develop deep and meaningful realtionships.

Hello Friends!
Do you feel awkward at making friends? You are in good company. Today’s episode we shared how our friendship felt quite awkward at the beginning, but we kept pursuing each other and built a beautiful friendship. There is hope on the other side of awkward beginnings.
Jennie Allen encourages us in chapter 5 of her book Find Your People,
Close FIRE Goal: proximity Barrier: Business
1) Notice who is already right in front of you. Who are the people you see at church, in your neighborhood, at work, school… who is around us in our everyday life.
2) Put yourself out there and let’s be intentional about who we would like to get to know more. Who could we initiate a coffee date, a walk, or a text message? We will never have friends unless you are willing to consistently initiate. This is not a small challenge, and as we discuss today it feels exhausting to feel like the only one who is initiating connection.
3)Start Great conversations, we can learn to ask more intentional questions that move beyond the daily to do’s and schedules. We can get a little deeper with questions about how we feel about this or that?
Thanks for joining us today!

Hello Friends! Welcome back to our conversation of our featured book “ “Find Your People.”
Chapter 4, Find your People, is our topic of discussion. The necessary ingredients to build healthy friendships are A) availability- say yes friend, B) Humility- being able to say the hard things, and C) transparency- not hiding being open and honest. Our village of friends is full of people who need us and who we need in our life. Relationships will not be perfect, we will let others down and others will let us down. God can hold our expectations!
