Are We Doing This?
We Actually Did That – A Year of Wins, Fails & Wild Challenges

It’s our end-of-year / New Year’s episode and we are unwell (in the best way) over our debut season stats.

Apparently, our brand-new little podcast was more popular than 92% of other new shows on Spotify, landed in the Top 15% of video podcasts, got shared more than 94% of other shows, and somehow made its way into 8 different countries (hi Bulgaria, Germany, Australia, and our ride-or-dies in the US). Oh—and 21 people have us as their #1 show… which honestly feels illegal.

After fully basking in that glow, we took a walk down memory lane and revisited all the challenges we bravely (and sometimes questionably) attempted this year. Remember when LP opened an Etsy shop that absolutely flopped? When LB took a poetry class? When we tried to sell feet pics (NOT our feet, thank you very much)? Some challenges were wins, some were fails, but all of them made this year unforgettable. Bonus plot twist: LP started an entirely new career with her cake business and somehow survived.

We wrap things up by talking about what we’re leaving behind (hello, shame spirals) and what we’re carrying into 2026—a healthier, less unhinged relationship with our phones. It’s reflective, it’s ridiculous, and it’s the perfect way to close out the year with us.

Cheers to trying things, failing loudly, winning unexpectedly, and doing it all together.

Are We Doing This?
The Book That's Changing Our Lives

In today’s episode, we’re basically here to say: hydration, less scrolling, and touching grass might actually work. We talk about the small habit changes that are making us feel mentally and physically better—drinking more water, moving our bodies, getting off sleep meds, and (gasp) spending way less time on our phones.

We also tackle one of parenting’s greatest mysteries: how to keep the Christmas magic alive when your kids are old enough to ask… questions. Is Santa still believable? Are we still believable? We discuss.

Most of this episode is a love letter to How to Break Up With Your Phone by Catherine Price, because WOW. We’re on day 16 of the 30-day Phone Breakup, our phones no longer sleep next to us (scandalous), our worst apps have been deleted (RIP), and we’ve replaced doom-scrolling with reading, walking, and cleaning like people who suddenly “have their lives together.” If your phone has a little too much power over you, come break up with it alongside us.

Are We Okay? The Great Phone Breakup Day 1

In this week’s episode of Are We Doing This?, Lauren P kicks things off by recounting how her friend almost drowned in two feet of water in Mexico—because nothing says “vacation” like a near-death experience in ankle-deep waves.

Lauren B then shares her recent ADHD diagnosis, connecting the dots on a lifetime of “Wait… is this not how everyone’s brain works?”

Separately, the Laurens reflect on their former Texas era, when they felt obligated to keep up with the Joneses—and how moving away cured that instantly. They no longer get their nails done, and honestly? Freedom has never looked so chipped.

They also dive into their newest self-help adventure: How to Break Up With Your Phone by Catherine Price. They’re on Day 2 of the 30-day Phone Breakup, still recovering from Day 1’s assignment to freak yourself out. Spoiler: it worked. They learned exactly how many hours they spend on their phones and how often they’re interrupted per hour… and let’s just say the numbers were not kind.

The moral of the episode? If they’d just put their damn phones down, they actually could do all the things they claim they have no time for—cleaning, working out, reading, writing, and maybe even resurrecting their nail care era. But no promises on that last one.

A chaotic, relatable, and slightly alarming episode. Enjoy!

Are We Doing This?
2,768 Steps and a Break Up

In this episode, Lauren and Lauren Parajon catch up on all the big things—like conquering Thanksgiving, surviving the 2,768-step Manitou Incline (aka: the StairMaster from hell), and planning a handmade Christmas because apparently nothing says “festive” like stabbing fabric thousands of times with a tiny needle.

Lauren Butler shares how she’s rediscovering her crafty side through hand embroidery, all while navigating the rollercoaster of parenting older kids—complete with new boundary-setting adventures and the realization that big kids can outsmart you.

The Laurens also dive into their complicated relationships… with their phones. They talk about what it might look like to officially “break up” with their devices, how screen time hijacks real-life moments, and why a digital detox might actually save their sanity. Toss in some tips for cutting back on scrolling, a rant or two about social media brain fog, and a group challenge to put the phones down before they fuse to our hands.

And because we’re grown-ups now, they even squeeze in some chat about sleep, health, and doing small things to prevent future problems—like dementia, burnout, or turning into those people who insist they don’t need rest. It’s an episode full of laughs, honesty, and the shared goal of being a little healthier (and slightly less glued to our screens).

Are We Okay? Still Figuring It Out at 40

Lauren and Lauren reflect on how much the podcast—and their lives—have evolved. Turning 40 has brought new perspectives, new hobbies, and a whole lot of self-discovery. From handmade holiday gifts to ADHD, perimenopause, and the rollercoaster of mental health, they open up about what it means to really understand yourself in midlife. They also talk writing as therapy, reality TV as research (hi, Love Is Blind), and why embracing change might just be the best gift of all.

Are We Obsessed? Rallies, Reads and Masked Shirtless Men

Sleep-deprived and slightly unhinged, Lauren P kicks things off by confessing that life without her sleep meds has turned her into a nocturnal raccoon. Meanwhile, Lauren B channels her inner activist at the No Kings rally and comes back feeling empowered. Then it’s time for this week’s obsessions: Lauren P is deep in the Plated Prisoner series (a spicy romantasy involving King Midas, which isn't as weird as it sounds), Lauren B is reading Culpability and questioning whether AI is about to take her job and her soul, and both Laurens dive into their latest TV addictions—Love Is Blind (Lauren P’s Halloween costume inspo) and Chad Powers (Lauren B’s newest crush). Lauren P also introduces Lauren B to the strange, seductive world of “MaskTok,” proving once again that her algorithm is chaos incarnate.

Are We Okay? Freelance Fears, Spicy Scenes & Unhinged Energy

ARE we okay? Honestly, back-to-school season has us feeling a little unhinged—and that’s before you add freelancing, imposter syndrome, and planning milestone birthdays into the mix. This week, we talk about the anxiety of starting something new (hello, freelance life), the surprise of realizing when romance writing gets too personal, and why we’re done being embarrassed about throwing ourselves 40th birthday parties.

We also dive into parenting chaos, celebrate tiny wins, and process our shocked-to-our-core reactions to Netflix’s Unknown Number. Basically, it’s a little therapy session, a little business pep talk, and a lot of “Are we Okay?” energy.

Are We Obsessed? Tayvis, a must-read book, male strippers and Demon Hunters

This week’s episode took an unexpected turn when Lauren B got a FaceTime call mid-recording from our friend Ashley—who came bearing the BREAKING NEWS that Taylor Swift is engaged! Naturally, Ashley hopped on the pod and she and Lauren B went full fangirl mode (yes, there were tears).

Once we finally recovered from the Swiftie meltdown, we dove into our current obsessions:

  • Lauren B is all about Taylor’s new album (and now upcoming nuptials), the hilarious We Do Not Care Club trend, and Tyler Childers’ hauntingly good track The Bitin’ List.

  • Lauren P couldn’t stop raving about the Magic Mike movies as the ultimate girls’ night pick, plus her love for the twisty novel The Compound (fueled by her reality TV obsession).

  • And both Laurens shared their hype for the epic K-pop demon hunters movie that totally stole their hearts.

It’s equal parts fangirl frenzy, fun recs, and genuine laughter—aka classic “Are We Obsessed?”

What happens in Vegas... stays on this Podcast

Fresh off a 3-day girls trip to Vegas, Lauren and Lauren are back—and they brought souvenirs in the form of stories, laughter, and just a few rum-soaked Dole Whips. In this episode, we’re recapping the unforgettable weekend we spent with our college besties, Joy and Ashley—from getting way too into the Magic Mike show (no regrets), to living our best lives in a cabana at the Bellagio pool, and of course, losing our voices at the ICONIC Backstreet Boys concert at the Sphere.

We’re also sharing a very special segment recorded from our hotel bed (in pajamas, obviously): Pillow Talk Confessions from Vegas. The four of us get nostalgic about how we met, reflect on how we’ve kept our friendship strong for 20 years, and share some heartfelt, hilarious, and possibly embarrassing truths.

This one’s for the girls, the group chats, and the friendships that stand the test of time (and tequila).

Are We Obsessed?: Thots, Books & Porch Beers

In this Are We Obsessed? episode, the Laurens dive into their latest fixations—because when they love something, they really love it. Lauren P reveals how a spicy little Ali Hazelwood novel yanked her out of a six-month reading slump (12 books in one month, y’all!) and shares her newfound love for old-school porch hangouts with neighbors while the kids run wild in the street like it’s 1993. She also sings the praises of living in a neighborhood where all the kids' friends are within five minutes—it takes a village, but like, a close one.

Meanwhile, Lauren B is obsessed with Phoebe Robinson’s Substack, Thots and Prayers, and is on a mission to enjoy summer with her kids rather than white-knuckle her way through it. (We see you, moms hiding in the pantry with the boxed wine.)

If you’re looking for laughs, book recs, community feels, and a nudge to go sit on your dang porch—this episode’s for you.

Are We Doing This?
Plotting Our Next Chapters (The Laurens' Version)

(Edited with improved audio!)

In this hilarious and heartfelt episode of Are We Doing This?, Lauren and Lauren dive into the chaos and comedy of summer parenting. They swap stories about teaching their kids to ride bikes, surviving splash pad birthday parties in the rain, sunset paddle board picnics, and letting daughters get bangs and purple highlights.

The conversation turns to their June movement challenge—Wall Pilates and daily activity—and their confessions about how much (or little) they actually stuck to it. They reflect on what worked, what didn’t (looking at you, glitchy app), and how “cheating” on your challenge might still count as growth.

Lauren B then unveils her July challenge: to actively explore a career pivot. She’s feeling the pull away from digital marketing and toward something more fulfilling—like coaching, therapy, or facilitation—and lays out her plan to research new paths, reconnect with her strengths, and take the first step toward what’s next.

Meanwhile, Lauren P (who, by the way, is a little wine drunk during this recording) dives into her next creative challenge: writing a romance novella. She's already 800 words in on a story about a woman who’s a social media manager for a celebrity chef. Think: love, kitchen chaos, and content strategy.

It’s raw, real, and full of laughs and "me too" moments for any listener trying to juggle personal growth, parenting, and summer chaos.

Are We Doing This?
From Petals to Parties: Jen Gayden on Building Vivian James Events

This week, the Laurens are back with updates on their fitness challenge—and let’s just say things escalated quickly. Wall Pilates is no joke and Lauren B accidentally found herself in a HIIT cardio class that nearly ended her. Spoiler: she survived, but barely.

Then, they sit down with the incredible Jen Gayden, the creative force behind Vivian James Events in Fort Worth. Jen shares how she blends her love of event planning, photography, and florals into one stunning business—all while raising two kids and staying (somehow?) sane. She spills the tea on why flowers can be ridiculously expensive, and why having a mentor is a total game-changer when launching a business.

Don’t miss this episode full of laughs, inspiration, and a little post-workout regret. And be sure to tune in next week for the Are We Obsessed episode when the Laurens dive into their current faves—products, shows, and whatever else is living rent-free in their brains.

Are We Doing This?
Finding the Fun in Fitness (Finally?)

This week, the Laurens are back with a wild mix of firsts, fails, and future plans. Lauren P recounts her shocking near hole-in-one during her very first golf outing—and her dream of assembling a glam golf crew for a weekend of cute outfits and cocktails. Meanwhile, both Laurens took on the challenge of watching all 10 Academy Award Best Picture nominees (well… almost all), and they’re not holding back on their hot takes. (The Substance = yes. Emilia Perez = hard no.)

They also get real about their struggle to find joy in working out—and what they’re doing about it. Lauren B is diving into a ChatGPT-generated 30-day movement challenge (think: brushing your teeth while doing calf raises), and Lauren P was influenced by TikTok (again) to try the 28-Day Wall Pilates Challenge.

Plus, a sneak peek at next week’s guest: Jen Gayden of Vivian James—Petals, Portraits, and Parties. You’ll want to hear her story!

Lauren P debates whether competitive soccer is the right fit for her son—especially if it means giving up her beloved Soccer Saturdays with friends.
