Today’s Guest is 32 year old Sanna Duthie.
Sanna is a runner and ultra runner from Pembrokeshire, she ran her first race 14 years ago - and has since then completed Marathons, placed 1st Female in the Llanelli Marathon in 20, and has ventured into the field of ultra running, and has raced the Pembrokeshire 100 miler twice,
And The Endurance life in the Gower where she placed third.
Most recently, Sanna completed the whole of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park - in one go, becoming the second person ever to complete the full path in one go (non-stop). Not only did Sanna complete this, she also knocked off the former record - by almost 13 hours, running the 186 coastal path miles in just 51 hours and raising nearly £4,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance.
Sanna shares her story with us Today; what drew her to running - why she runs and how it impacts her life, and what inspired her to run the 186 miles of Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks to raise money.
What amazes me about Sanna, her training and accomplishments is that she balances her ultra training around full time work, and she does not skip on her additional components of her training; she regularly trains at the gym, completing her strength and conditioning exercises and mobility, balancing both the gym, running, and training on the coastal path. Sanna also writes her own training plan, essentially coaching herself through her ultra training and events - which to me is fascinating., Wanna is incredibly motivated, and committed to her training, and her determination and resilience in pursuing a goal, and overcoming obstacles is truly inspiring. I hope you enjoy this episode Today - as ever if you are listening please take a screen shot - share this episode online with others, so they too can feel inpsired by Sanna’s Story Today.

Today’s guest is actress, singer, entrepreneur and mental health advocate Suzanne Shaw, who is well known for having been a member of pop band Hear’say after winning talent show Pop Stars in 2001.
Suzanne began a super health journey last year, she became alcohol-free, Vegan, took up running, and continued her mindfulness practice.
Just over a year into her running journey and Suzanne has set a goal to run 19 hours for the 19 people who take their own life every day in the UK, in aim to raise vital funds for the Samaritans. [link below to support Suzanne’s fundraising.] This is an epic goal Suzanne has set, especially given that Suzanne was not even running just 18 months ago, and is now an ultra runner.
Suzanne talks to me Today about what made her pledge her health goals to herself, what keeps her accountable and what motivates her to empower others to lead a happier, healthier lifestyle.
This conversation is truly motivating and inspiring - please share with others and support Suzanne ahead of her 19 hour challenge.

Today’s guest is Mark White.. Mark, is a father to two, a husband, and of course another runner.
Mark is the founder of a community interest company called Your Town which has live “community up” initiatives/campaigns across various UK towns, including the Your Town Runners. In addition to this Mark also launched Run Grateful, in 2020 and has recently created and founded MEUS, (ME US) which is a platform to reimagine men’s health in order to support them physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Mark took on his own personal challenge for the first rendition of Run Grateful with a 24 hour challenge, running a 5km , followed by a mile on the hour every hour, dedicating each mile to something he was grateful for.
Run Grateful’s mission is to create a strong sense of community centred around this one emotion, gratitude, something that is incredibly personal, but something we can connect with through sharing stories and experiences.

Today’s guest is a mother, a marathoner and ultra runner! Kelly balances training with her busy family life.
Kelly is also a very well known face in the online running community… with several thousands of followers online, and has been featured on the cover of Women’s Running Magazine during 2020
Kelly initially struggled when she first started running, but since then she states that running has brought everything to her life, and that her whole life has changed thanks to running; including managing the grief of losing her first born son; assisting her with the management of her Type 1 Diabetes; brought friendships; and was even how she met her current partner Matt Rees, with who she has since had a baby.
During this episode myself and Kelly discuss many aspects of her journey through running;
Kelly shares her big goal she is working towards this year, qualifying for Boston. She shares how much she will need to knock off her current PB, and her very special reason as to why she wants to qualify this year.

Today’s guest is Charlotte Clarke - a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer, an ex professional dancer, and ex body builder, an ultra runner who is a perfect fit for the Not Another Runner Podcast as her aim is much like this podcast:
…to encourage others to get active no matter what obstacles they have had to overcome! This aim mirrors that of the NAR Podcast, and its Get up and Get Going despite level of ability or past experiences, to lead a healthier and happier lifestyle.
What inspires me about Charlotte is how - despite going through two heart operations and the inevitable recovery Charlotte endured, this has not stopped her from getting up and getting going to reach her goals, and inspiring others in the process. After 9 years of no running, due to a lost love in the sport - Charlotte challenged herself to run a solo virtual 50km in September 2020 - her very first ultra.
Since then she has gone on to run another two ultras and has challenged herself to run the 100km Salomon Serpent Trail in September, and then her GMT Challenge - Gain Momentum Together, on 30/10/21 when the clocks return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) Charlotte is challenging herself to run the 25 hours and see how much of the 242km of the London Loop [The London Outer Orbital Path] she can complete, all in aid of raising money for Sporting Minds UK - see links for Charlotte’s GMT fundraising page.
Charlotte is an absolutely resilient, and determined individual - who is quite clearly a force to be reckoned with in the best sense of the phrase.

You will hear about Ruth’s father in this chat - and the link to Ruth’s Just Giving Page is in the show notes for this Podcast, please see Apple Podcasts - and see the Show Notes below.
This was such a great chat with Ruth - I’d been wanting to get her on Not Another Runner Podcast for such a long time, it ended in perfect timing - right before Ruth's big birthday and Birthday Marathon Fundraiser.
We chatted abut Lockdown, and how she managed these difficult times with balancing family and training. We spoke about motivation, and how to remain motivated in training; injury and how coming back can make you so grateful, and we spoke of how Ruth has improved with her running over the years. Ruth tells us how she went from a 2:15 Half Marathon in her Twenties to 1:44 and how she improved her marathon from 5:25 to 3:55 at age 39.
