Faultline Bourbon is adorned with an iconic cracked sidewalk label. The original K&L Faultline Bourbon debuted in 2013 and was very well received. For this short, we dive into the latest release was distilled in 2006 and aged with meticulous attention for nineteen years. Distilled in Indiana, the bourbon that we taste in this episode is barrel number one of four. 19 year old MGP? Sounds too good to be true. Maybe it is. MAYBE! You'll have to listen to find out. Thanks to Tom for the assist on this one.

How many podcasts would review two potential bourbon of the year candidates in one episode? We could have spaced these two bottles out, but that wouldn't have been much fun. Join us this week as we taste and review the 2025 offerings of King of Kentucky and William Heavenhill. We are joined by a special guest and Kenny (in classic Kenny fashion) made us blind these whiskeys along side of other bangers. This was a VERY enjoyable episode to record and we hope you love listening.

Old Cassidy is a brand new premium blend of bourbon from Rare Character. Previously, Old Cassidy had been released as a single barrel product, but this inaugural blend will be an annual release that will showcase the best of the barrels that Rare Character has. Distilled and aged in Kentucky and bottled in Lexington, this release represents a deliberate selection of barrels ranging in age, with 18-year-old Kentucky bourbon as the base of the blend. Each barrel for this blend was chosen for its unique contribution of flavor and character, and the result is rich, complex, and harmonious bourbon worthy of being celebrated. In this short, we give you our honest take on this brand new bottle and also speculate on what barrels we believe may have been blended to create this bourbon.

21 year old bourbon? With an age statement like that, it has to be good. This limited edition from Knob Creek is the oldest to date and is described as bold, complex, and rich. But how does it taste? You've heard us be pretty hard on Beam LEs in the past, but we came into this episode feeling hopeful and a bit satched. How did things turn out? You'll have to listen to find out. Not surprisingly, Kenny introduced no less than one thousand blinds in order to help us make a good solid judgement on this bottle.

On this Tuesday short, the fellas double blind each other with bottles priced from $40-$200. Kenny and Steven are spot on while Anthony is somewhere out in left field. The blinds are fun, but the introduction to this episode is one of the best in Mash Up history. Enjoy and don't forget to blind. It's the only way.

You've heard us talk about the Russell's Reserve Single Rickhouse releases a few times. This years release is one of the highest proof in turkey history and comes to us from the stocks of bourbon aging at the famed Camp Nelson campus. The fourth edition of the Single Rickhouse series comes from Camp Nelson E, which was built in 1946 and still stands tall today as one of 5 remaining rickhouses on the property. It is set back deepest on the property amongst the trees, contributing to more shade and an overall cooler climate. But how does the whiskey taste? More importantly, how does it stack up against other Wild Turkey releases? We've reviewed them all, but is this one the best yet? You'll have to listen to find out.

You've heard us mention the good folks at Jackson's Wine & Spirits many times on our podcast. For this week's short, we taste and review a new RD1 Bourbon Pick called "Bubble Gum Delight" that recently hit the shelves at Jackson's. Clocking in at 6 years and 116.8 proof, this bourbon packs some flavor. However, we also experimented with this one a bit and the results were quite surprising.

You all know that we are way behind when it comes to listener blinds. We've talked about having a big live on YouTube (check out our channel), but for now, we picked a set at random got to work. In this episode, we double blind four different samples from our listener Rick from Louisiana. Even though we assumed we had never had any of these whiskeys before, Kenny proved that the palate can indeed have a memory. So join us this week as we do some more blinds and have a bunch of fund in the process. Thanks for making this one possible, Rick!

Last year, Heaven Hill debated the "Grain to Glass" series which is a partnership with Beck's Hybrid and local farmers. Admittedly, when we reviewed the entire lineup last year (bourbon, wheat, and rye), we didn't know much about the plans for this series or what would make each release unique. Fast forward to this year, it same lineup is back, but a different and unique corn variety was used for the 2025 releases (compared to the previous year). The rye was our favorite last year. So, for this short, we taste and review the 2025 version of the Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Rye. There are some surprise blinds in the process and we actually kept it short!

Fresh off episode 300, the fellas are all back in the saddle and ready to taste some hazmat bourbon. Rare Character has been delivering unique and sought after single barrels and blends for nearly four years. This brand has been as hot as any NDP on the market in recent times. For this episode, we taste and review a Hazmat Brook Hill Bourbon selected by OBC Kitchen and a Hazmat Single Barrel selected by Liquor Barn. We love when we can taste and review bottles that were selected by great local businesses, especially when they are over 140 proof! Join us this week as we share a lot of laughs and debut a new segment called "Kenny's Culinary Experiences." Whether you are curious about the whiskey or the new segment, we can promise you one thing: you will laugh. Cheers!

We wanted to roll into episode 300 with pomp and circumstance, but instead, we settled on what we know best - doing some blinds. In this short, Anthony and Kenny blind each other in front of a live studio audience. While we didn't have a blow out bash to celebrate 300, we still had a lot of fun and we want to thank each and every one of you for supporting us.

Sugarlands Distilling Company is nestled in the foothills of Gatlinburg, TN. Even though they are a company that originally focused on moonshine, they have been getting noticed for their unique rye whiskey. Roaming Man is a cask-strength pot distilled rye whiskey, made from locally sourced grains and crafted in the largest copper pot still in the United States. Even though the first release of roaming man was in 2017, we had never heard of this company until our good friend Hector sent us some bottles. In this episode, we taste and review the cask strength version of this whiskey and the limited release 10 year version. With a mashbill of 51% rye, 45% white corn, and 4% malted barely, we can honestly say that this whiskey is unique. But would we pass, try, or buy? You'll have to listen to find out.

The 2025 release of Four Roses SMBLE is 109 proof and is a blend 13 year (OBSV, OESV, OBSK) and 19 year (OESV) bourbons. In what seems like an like an annual exercise, we taste and review this limited release and give you our honest thoughts. Spoiler alert: our opinions on this one are anything but straightforward. We are joined again by our good friend Paul and we thank him for providing this bottle for the review and episode.

Shortbarrel is an Atlanta-based bourbon company whose bottles started hitting the shelves in 2021. Founded by a tight-knit group of bourbon enthusiasts, Shortbarrel specializes in crafting very unique offerings with the whiskey nerd in mind. In 2023, Shortbarrel purchased the Old Fourth Distillery and they have plans to open a flagship bar and retail shop in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Despite being one of the hottest new brands on the market, none of us had ever tried any of their products. In this episode, we taste and review The Bee's Knees which is an annual limited release that is double barreling and has four different variants (Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, and Kentucky). We also try their cask strength toasted barrel bourbon which is a unique blend of Green River and Bardstown distillate finished in a Kelvin barrel. So join us this week as we talk Shortbarrel and give you our honest opinions. You will also get to see and hear the end of Anthony's gambling career.

For this short, we decided to taste and review two brand new bottles from Woodford. The 2025 edition of the Woodford Reserve Master’s Collection is called "Sweet Oak Bourbon" and it started as regular Woodford distillate before aging 7 years in Chinkapin oak barrels. Coming in at 110.4 proof, this new release retails for 179.99 (700ml). The second bottle we reviewed from Woodford is a brand new distillery series release that is a 12 Year American Single Malt. Comprised of a 100% malted barley mash bill, this 12 year single malt is like nothing we've ever seen before from the brand. So which one is better? You'll have to listen to find out. Also, you won't want to miss this episode because in the midst of all the tasting, we also reblinded Kenny with Russell's 15 and Jack Daniels 14. There is a lot of action packed into this short episode.

Maker's Mark Cellar Aged debuted in 2023 to much acclaim and it was announced that this would be an annual limited release from the brand, showcasing the best of their aged whisky stocks. When we reviewed 2024 version of this bourbon(E192), it became clear that the profile of this whisky would be different each year. Fast forward to the current episode - we taste and review the 2025 version of cellar which is comprised of 11, 13, and 14 year old whiskies and comes in at 112.9 proof. When we reviewed the previous batches, we were overly complementary and rightfully so. But how does the new 2025 batch taste? You'll have to listen to find out. In this episode, we are joined by our friend and community leader, Rip N' Sips.

Despite the fact that we are behind when it comes to tasting all the blind samples that members of our community have sent, in this week's short, we tackle two blinds that were sent in from Kris. Can we guess age, proof, and distillate once again? Trying things blind is one of our favorite things to do, even though it's incredibly tough. We are thankful to Kris for providing these samples and we hope you enjoy listening to us work through what's in our glasses.

Even though we tend to gravitate toward our own state when it comes to brown liquid, we got a lot of love for our neighbors to the south in Tennessee. Jack Daniel's is a brand that is steeped in history and tradition and we've been delighted at how they've expanded their offerings in recent years. In this episode, we taste and review the brand new Jack Daniel's Heritage offering which is a toasted single barrel whiskey. To create this whiskey, Jack Daniel's uses barrels that have a high toast/low char technique which are then filled with 100 proof liquid and aged for 7 years at the highest part of the warehouse. The end result? You'll have to listen to find out. This was once a limited release and now Jack has plans to release it annually. Is this once limited bottle worth having on your radar. We'll give you the lowdown.

For this week's short, we focus on Stranahan's recent "Founder's Release" which is a blend of 8-11 year American Single Malt Whiskey finished for 1-4 years in ex-Bourbon and ex-Blonde ale casks. Carrying a 12 year age statement and coming in at 120 proof, this whiskey is like nothing we've ever tasted before. Is that a good or bad thing? You'll have to listen to find out. Special thanks to our listener Ryan for providing us with this sample of this pour for the episode.

In the very first episode of The Mash Up Podcast, we tasted and reviewed Sazerac Rye. Just a few short years and a couple episodes later, we were delighted to hear that Saz/BT was releasing a 100 proof version of this rye whiskey. Developed in response to demand from bartenders and whiskey enthusiasts, this innovative expression is designed to offer enhanced flavor, versatility and control in cocktail creation while maintaining the smooth, approachable profile that defines Sazerac Rye. So how does it taste? But more importantly, how does it taste next to the classic "baby Saz." Give a us a listen and you'll find out. This episode is full of surprises. A mystery guest host, unexpected pours, and as always, a lot of fun. Cheers!
