Welcome to The Soulcare Garden Podcast Episode #2
This episode focuses on the stigma, conditioning and common misrepresentation of mental health and its impact on our community. Unfortunately, mental health and mental illness stigma is still something that prevents a lot of Black people from coming out and speaking their truth. I also discuss the damage of the "strong Black woman" narrative, the strength in vulnerability, common attitudes regarding mental health within the Black community, how to approach someone you are concerned about and what the warning signs may look like.

Welcome to The Soulcare Garden Podcast
I'm your host Tamika Marviaa and here I will explain the reasons I started this podcast. I am a second generation Jamaican Canadian who is an advocate for mental health, mindset, spiritual and holistic wellness. I completed my B.A (Bachelor of Arts) in Psychology and I am currently enrolled in a Master's of Counselling program. My end goal is to complete my Ph.D one day and become a Registered Psychologist while creating safe spaces of BIPOC communities.
Originally "The Soulcare Garden" is also a platform where I create content around mental health and wellness as well as personal reflection essays and pieces. I wanted to create a safe and intention space for Black women to navigate their feelings and experiences. This is just one way of me doing so.
