RE-EVAL CP Short XIX: Nutrient Timing (The 'Drive' Edition)

Is the timing of when you get your nutrients in important? Well it depends. Dr. Jagim breaks down what you need to know about nutrient timing. It used to be the biggest thing you had to focus on and make sure you did not miss an 'anabolic window'. That may apply to a very specific portion of the population but not to most of us. RE-EVAL Research Review: Exercise Snacks

This research review looks at a study that utilized “research snacks” to see the effects on insulin, glucose and free fatty acids after meals throughout the day. These “snacks” consisted of ascending 3 flights of stairs as fast as possible every hour throughout the day. Each time would take between 10-20s. The results showed that for an overweight and obese group there was a decrease in insulin and free fatty acid levels, no changes in these levels occurred in a healthy group.Interesting concept to help control blood levels with a minimal amount of effort throughout the day. Check it out.

RE-EVAL LI: Administrative Leadership

Being in administration doesn’t automatically make you a leader. Being a leader doesn’t always mean you’re in administration. An administrative position doesn’t necessarily mean a position of leadership and this can be key in how you communicate with your team and those who report to you. Being able to remain humble and continue to focus on your team and developing their human capital will be a game changer in how you interact with staff and the people you serve. We discuss some of the ideas around how you refer to yourself and your interaction with your team. LINK: https://youtu.be/ReCg-NxRmE0

Concussions have been brought into the spotlight again with some high profile injuries. In a podcast on ATChat we talked with Dr. Julie Stamm, a concussion expert, and she mentioned the pressure felt by providers to return patients faster than they were ready. We highlight a study she worked on showing how common that pressure is and what it means for the potential risks to the health and safety of patients and athletes. See what they found in this Research Review.

RE-EVAL Clinical Insight: Lumbar Manipulation as a Rehab Technique

After attending a Dry Needling course and getting some fantastic extra clinical pearls this one really stuck out to me. It was extremely interesting to think about utilizing lumbar adjustments as rehab, through the stretch reflex of muscles. We aren't downplaying rehab at all and think it is really important but I had never thought of this concept as something that worked in this way. So I did my best to recap it. RE-EVAL Ep. 53: Greg Nuckols-Stronger by Science

We got to sit down and talk with Greg Nuckols.  Greg is the founder and huge contributor to 'Stronger by Science'.  This is a blog and email newsletter that breaks down the science that is out there when it comes to strength training.  Greg is in the middle of his Master's degree to continue to increase his knowledge of how research works and how to best utilize it to get the results we are looking for.We talk about how it is hard to fully understand research and even when you think that you do understand it there is no promise that how the statistics were run that what you are going in the conclusion is correct.  Greg talks bout a lot of the ways to get around these pitfalls and what he and his team are trying to do in order to help set a better standard when it comes to the science of getting strong and performing well.  Great episode if you're into the research.Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/c/clinicallypressed?sub_confirmation=1Find everything and sign up for episode delivery at www.clinicallypressed.org

RE-EVAL Ep. 83: 'Wish I Knew'-Nutrition

In this part of the ‘Wish I Knew’ series we discuss nutrition. This topic can get in depth so quickly and there are so many facets of it that it could go on for hours, we tried to keep it short. Nutrition can get really complex, very quickly and that makes it even harder to apply good principles to your life and to others you serve. Some of the major take aways I’ve learned over the years is you have to start with the basics and try and cover as much of those as you can to start. From there you can start looking into the complex but you have to remember “there is no free lunch in physiology”. Anything you choose as an intervention is going to impact other things. Here is what I’ve learned.Check it out: www.clinicallypressed.org#complicatedsimple #resultsthatgiveback SUBSCRIBE: https://www.youtube.com/c/clinicallypressed?sub_confirmation=1#complicatedsimple #progressive #openminded #PBE #EBP #noagenda #performance #training #nutrition #health #wellness #athlete #athletictraining #science #chiropractic #rehab #prevention #clinicallypressed #leadership #concussion #clinical #wishIknew #growth
