🔍 In this episode of "Every Body Knows," I sit down with naturopath Christina Mathewson to explore the carnivore diet and its potential to support the management of chronic illnesses. I share my personal journey of managing Crohn's Disease without medication for over twenty years, highlighting the significant benefits I've experienced from the carnivore diet over the last 6 months (well 12 months as I share in teh intro). Christina breaks down how she discovered the carnivore diet and its foundational role in healing the body and reversing diabetes (including healing eyesight and regrowing hair!), challenging prevalent myths around red meat and cancer, and discussing the misleading impacts of corporate-funded research. We delve into the importance of deriving nutrients from highly bioavailable sources like meat, rather than supplements, and discuss how the carnivore diet supports the body's detox pathways. For anyone considering this dietary approach or simply curious about its wide-ranging health benefits—including increased energy, sharper mental clarity, weight loss, and hormonal balance—this episode provides an in-depth look at committing to the carnivore diet for a minimum of 90 days to see transformative results.

Part 1 was the theory, now we're putting it into practice. I share my experience doing the breathwork session with high performance and mindset coach Damian Glynn, which included profound morphine-like pain relief, an out-of-body experience, followed by an extreme state of presence Damian calls the "flow-state".
Then we do a few rounds on-air of the exact breathwork method Damian lead me through and the one he uses to train leaders and high performers to show up and get the best out of their mind and body.

How would your life change if you could take full control of your mind to build a bulletproof life and take command of your body to heal, rid pain, and repel disease?
Yeah great right, but not possible?
Well, there's a "crazy dutchman" called Wim Hof who is "changing the game" and disproving long-held beliefs on the limits of what is humanly possible through the power of the mind.
And it's all through breathing and cold exposure.
In this episode I got to sit down with Damian Glynn, a disciple of Wim Hof, high-performance coach and co-founder the Better Everyday Project who consults to some of the leading global brands to train their leader to perform at their absolute peak both mentally and physically.
In this first of two parts of my interview, Damian lays out the philosophy, the science and just what's possible here in transforming our health, happiness and performance with these free and simple techniques.
Then in part two coming soon, I talk about my experience going through one of Damian's sessions and he coaches me through a few rounds of the 10 minute practice that has taken him all over the world.

My guest today is Nathan Ohlson. He, like me, was diagnosed with severe Crohn's Disease when he was young, flaring every month, in and out of hospital, and like most people with Crohn's and inflammatory bowel disease, was told that you're going to be on a long list of prescription medications for the rest of your life to keep this under control.
You see, they say Crohn's Disease cannot be cured.
But despite this, he's living med-free in the absolute best of physical and mental health and is living proof that it is possible to live unhindered by this disease and chase your dreams.
And now he's helping others to do it too.
He hosts a podcast called The Chronic Warrior Show where he's building a mastermind for people with Crohn's Disease, but really anyone wanting to overcome significant health challenges.
He also coaches one-on-one in mindset and physical fitness as a qualified personal trainer.
So if you've got health challenges to overcome, you've really got enough inner and outer voices telling you that it's NOT possible and reminding you of all the barriers in the way of where you want to be, so this is just going to be great nourishment for your mind, body and soul today as you listen to Nathan tackle the first step and really the giant pillar of this journey to healing and outrageous health, which is your mindset.
Make sure you subscribe, like and share it with others who you think will benefit. And remember, we're also on YouTube, so you can come and look at our ugly mugs there. Here's Nathan Allison.

Now for something a little different... for this episode I encourage you to be curious and open minded and hold tight as it's going to be a fun and intriguing conversation.
My guest in this episode is my friend and Doctor of Chinese Medicine Steven Booth — a transpersonal acupuncturist, researcher and author on the topic of sacred geometry. Now, I'm really new to this. And this is probably a really poor explanation, but sacred geometry is essentially the harmonious patterns that we find repeated in nature, and space and in our own bodies.
I met Steven and his wife Tasj at a health retreat a few years ago, and was deeply impacted by their authenticity, attention and compassion in steering me through a difficult time in my life.
Stephen has treated people with all kinds of traumas, both mental and physical, PTSD, illnesses, injuries and ailments. And he goes about it by shifting learned patterns in our minds, bodies and spirits that no longer serve us. And that actually cause a blockage to healing and repair.
It's really a spiritual work that directly impacts the body. He uses a whole host of different healing modalities, including acupuncture, light body activation, breathwork, sound healing, and guided meditation to lead a patient to an altered state of consciousness and a place where he calls the heart space. That gives people the ability to see the negative patents and the courage to make positive and lasting change.
TOPICS IN THIS EPISODE:
- The mind-body-spirit connection and the illusion of separation
- The importance of trust and rapport between patient and therapist
- What is sacred geometry, energy work, light body activation and breath work
- What is esoteric and transpersonal acupuncture
- Coming into heart space through altered states of consciousness
- How altered states help create lasting mental, emotional and physical healing
- Patients meeting lost loved ones, aliens and "the big guy" during treatment
- Current US trials with psilocybin mushrooms for treatment of PTSD, depression and end of life anxiety
Now, If this stuff sounds or woowoo, to you, then yeah, I know it does to me as well. And Steven would gladly accept that it does as well. And even that the science on this stuff is not settled if it is ever settled on anything. But Stephen doesn't need you to buy into some sort of belief or new framework.
In fact, on the contrary, he encourages you to dig deep into your own faith, worldview or belief system to find that foundation of love of compassion, and acceptance of self and others, which is the true source of healing and lasting change.
Stephen is such a disarming and unassuming person, and I'm so glad to have him on the show to talk about the great things that he is doing to heal the "wounded" from the inside out.

Hey, welcome to the first guided meditation for the podcast.
This is where you and I go to the deeper places, from learning and processing, to resting and being. Connecting with the deeper self, the spirit, in timeless present to recharge and to heal.
I have no idea if this little 10 min thingy will mean anything to anyone (I'm keen to hear if it does or doesn't) but never-the-less I thoroughly enjoyed putting this together, pushing into the moment, expressing experience and deeper feels, capturing the Burleigh beach sounds with my little recorder and beautiful sun rise just on the iPhone, for this my first meditation “for the healing journey”.
So right now try mute your inner critic, of yourself especially, but me too ideally. And when judgements, fears or distractions arise as they will, note them and allow them to be, without attaching yourself to them.
This meditation is called The Power of Rest.
Background ambient sound recorded at Burleigh Beach, Queensland, Australia.
As someone with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), I know what it's like to feel helpless, hopeless, confused and alone in the fight. There is still limited understanding, awareness, support and integrated care, but one organisation is working to change that.
My guest in this episode is CEO of Crohn's & Colitis Australia (CCA), Leanne Raven.
For 35 years now, CCA has been making life more liveable for over 85,000 Australian men, women and children living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis – collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
As I found out in my chat with Leanne, CCA don't just offer a listening ear and support network for the IBD community, but are influencing medical research and practice for these diseases, to embrace new cutting-edge science and implement more integrated, holistic, team-based care in hospitals and clinics.
IN THIS EPISODE:
👉 What IBD is and its wide ranging symptoms
👉 How CCA go about supporting the IBD community to LIVE FEARLESS
👉 Their free IBD Nurse line and General helpline
👉 Medical industry audits and how CCA is advocating for more holistic team-based IBD care
👉 Why your Gastroenterologist doesn't advise on diet or mental health
👉 Kids with IBD and CCA's camps and programs
👉 Latest IBD research topics - diet, microbiome, mental health, exercise
If you live with IBD, or know someone who does, this will be educational and encouraging.

My guest on the podcast today is exercise physiologist, researcher and university lecturer, Dr Daniel Hackett Ph.D, who has been researching and teaching on the impact of exercise on both the healthy and sick.
I came across Dr Hackett's name online as he is conducting the world’s first ever randomized clinical trial into the effects of progressive resistance training on suffers of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Daniel is passionate about the potential of what a prescribed exercise plan can do for people living with chronic health conditions and provides specific practical guidance on how to get one.
This episode is for everyone who wants to understand the crucial role of exercise in overall health as well as treating and preventing disease, and where to get the right help to get started.
Hey, if you enjoy this episode, please considering rating the podcast and writing a review. It would really make my day, and support what I'm doing.
Be well.
I'm so thrilled to be bringing you on launch day my in-person interview with mind-body nutrition coach - Kerrie Cox. Kerrie mindfulness approach to eating to improve digestion and metabolism is simple yet profound. She helps people overcome digestive disorders, leaky gut, weight control and bring more quality to all that they do through combating the stress-response and coaching people to be "in the body".
Welcome to the Podcast! In this first episode, it's only fitting that I sit down with my brother-from-another-mother, Tim Buxton, to share the heart behind the show and my story of life with inflammatory bowel disease, from life saving emergency surgery at age 12, being unable to stand on my wedding day and from completely weakness and desperation, finding a path to holistic healing, a family and career.
This is a very personal one for me and I really hope by sharing my story it gives empathy, hope and understanding for those who live with chronic illness.
