Yin Yoga Class Themes for Stomach & Spleen Meridians

TODAY I share with you 3 quotes that could be woven into your classes with themes and communication points to make your Yoga classes even more supportive. I am often asked about theme ideas for classes so wanted to share some ways in which I get inspiration and how that manifests into class plans. They are great also for Yang classes ;) 

1) Worries are like feathers in the wind; you can choose to let them fly away or let them weigh you down. The choice is yours

2) Surround yourself with the energy that lifts your spirit, and watch how effortlessly worries begin to fade into the background

3) You are the curator of your energy. Surround yourself with positivity, and watch how it effortlessly dispels the clouds of worry. 

Yoga Teachers - they also work beyond the season of Late Indian Summer. Any time your community feels a little low energy, or worry kicks in, or in need of a reminder to surround themselves with good vibes, welcome these themes in! Change the words for your own which resonate best.

Our Yin Space
Late Indian Summer, Yin & Traditional Chinese Medicine

Today I want to welcome you to the season of Late Indian Summer.  A time when we slowly we begin to move away from the Yang aspects of Summer and Fire Element, and begin that inward journey towards the more Yin seasons of Winter.

A time to begin to tune inward and pay attention to our thoughts, our state of mind, how we nourish ourselves both physically and mentally. Where do we let our minds wander to, who do we surround ourselves with, what fills our mind with attention, what messages do we allow into our worlds. Inspiring uplifting ones or those that create an inner landscape of insecurity or worry?

We are reminded that this season lays the foundation for the cooler months ahead, and that the intentions and practices we nurture during late indian summer will influence our well-being in the seasons to come. 

In the realm of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the shifting seasons hold immense significance, guiding us to adapt our habits in alignment with nature's rhythm. The essence of TCM lies in the pursuit of balance, the dance between Yin and Yang. Let's explore this together!

Finding Presence and Stillness in a Busy World

In this episode we explore the idea of finding presence and stillness in a busy world. Let's face it this modern world is a busy world! There are constantly distractions of some form or another.  Things to think about, to do, to achieve, to strive for, deadlines to meet, places to get to which often can serve as stessors.

When we spend more time in sympathetic (fight or flight) nervous system than parasympathetic (rest and nourish) we can find ourselves living with chronic stress. Long term chronic stress can have sad consequences for our mental and physical well-being.

In TCM we have something called “The Dao” as described so beautifully in the quote below:

“The tranquility found in the center of all events, and the path leading to the center. The center is always there, even if we are not always there to enjoy it.”

Anytime we move away from our center we take on aspects of yin or yang. Since life is forever changing, existence is never static, what is yin and what is yang are always changing too.

Rebalancing is the return to center and good health. I share a Yin sequence to enjoy alongside the visual aid below whenever you need it :)
