Just Do and Be :ADHD Reset Special Edition

This episode is a reset moment—something I needed to say, and something a whole lot of us needed to hear. Over the next week or two I’ll be talking more about the ADHD Reset, but today… today is about the heart of it.

This is the reminder we forget way too often:

Life will not always wait for us to “feel ready.” Sometimes you just have to do the thing anyway. Not perfectly. Not with fireworks. Just with intention. One small action at a time. Because every little step stacks up, and before you know it, you’re moving again.

And on the other side of that, there’s the part we don’t honor enough:

You are allowed to just be. To sit still without guilt. To breathe without apologizing. To exist without performing. Rest isn’t laziness—it’s obedience. It’s choosing to show up as the person God already designed, instead of trying to outrun your own mind.

This episode is your reset button… your soft nudge to move… and your gentle permission to stop moving when you need to. Both are holy. Both are necessary. Both are part of living well with ADHD.

Unmasking the Superwoman: A Journey to Authenticity

Liberation of the ADHD Mind: S2 E1

Letting Go of the Superwoman Mask

In this episode of the Chatterbrain Mommy Podcast, I talk about the importance of letting go of the 'superwoman mask' that many women, especially those with ADHD, wear to appear strong and capable while struggling internally. The conversation explores the emotional toll of this facade, the societal pressures that contribute to it, and practical steps to reclaim authenticity and self-care. The host emphasizes the need for support, the value of vulnerability, and the liberation that comes from being true to oneself.

Takeaways

  • Letting go of the superwoman mask is essential for mental health.
  • The mask is built from societal expectations and personal survival.
  • Wearing the mask leads to overwhelm, isolation, and burnout.
  • Asking for help is a strategy, not a weakness.
  • Rest is a necessary part of life, not a luxury.
  • Authenticity models strength for others, especially children.
  • You can reclaim your identity by shedding the mask.
  • Support systems are crucial for emotional well-being.
  • It's okay to not have everything together all the time.
  • Progress over perfection is key to personal growth.

Emotional Flooding and Freeze State Mode — When Your Brain Hits the Brakes and Your Heart Can’t Keep Up

Liberation of the ADHD Mind: S2 E18

Emotional Dysregulation

Ever had one of those moments where your brain says “go,” but your body’s like, “nah, we’re staying right here”? That’s what I call emotional flooding and freeze state mode — when everything hits you all at once, and your nervous system (or as I like to say, your inner security guard) shuts the whole party down.

In this episode, we’re talking about what emotional flooding really feels like — that spinning, shutdown, can’t-think-can’t-move mode — and how to get yourself out of it without judging yourself or calling it “lazy.” We’ll talk about how ADHD, trauma, and high emotional sensitivity all tie into this, and how to build calm before the chaos hits.

I’ll walk you through a few grounding tricks, body resets, and what to do when your brain refuses to “regulate” no matter how many deep breaths you take. Spoiler alert: it’s not about forcing calm — it’s about giving your body permission to feel safe again.

So grab a hot green tea with me, take that deep breath, and let’s talk about why freeze mode isn’t failure — it’s protection.
