If you are seeking more joy, peace and harmony in your life, I AM Yoga Nidra can support you on your journey.
This style of Yoga Nidra is designed to connect you more deeply with yourself and the world around you.
It supports you in appreciating that you are part of something greater than yourself and that you are so much more powerful to influence your circumstances than you currently understand.
Do not be fooled by the simplicity of this practice. It will change your life in profound ways.
This Yoga Nidra is designed to allow you to experience the power of your own presence.
The Shamans talk about the visible and the invisible, the form and the formless and walking both worlds.
They have developed capacities, available to us all, but poorly understood by most.
As humans we have undeveloped sensory capacities. Sometimes referred to as the sixth sense, also known as intuition, we have a capability to sense into situations and to intuit information beyond what is visible to us.
We have this capacity because we have an energy field and we are part of a wider energy field. When we say things like “you could cut the atmosphere with a knife” or talk about “good vibes” and “bad vibes”, this is how we are picking up on that information.
The more present we are, the more connected to our own energy field and the wider energy field, the more access we have to our own intuition and to have insight into both the visible and the invisible, the form and the formless.
The intention for the practice is “I am fully present in my body and connected to the field”.
When we repeat this intention outside of the practice, it should evoke the state of presence we achieve in the practice, thereby helping us to connect with the power of our own presence.
Try this 7 minute NSDR practice (Non Sleep Deep Relaxation)
- when you’ve completed an intense task and need to reset before moving on to the next thing
- when you’re stressed, annoyed or second guessing yourself, to come to a place of calm and acceptance
- when you’re leaving work and want to leave work behind, listen to this before you drive home or on the train or bus.
Think butterflies and colored clouds as we use imagery to connect with child-like (versus childish) joy and wonder, alongside all the normal benefits of deep relaxation and meditation.
A Yoga Nidra to support celebrating ourselves and our achievements.
This Yoga Nidra is for you if you
- have a tendency to overlook your many achievements and to give your energy and attention to what you didn’t do well.
- have a tendency to focus on what you want to fix about yourself rather than acknowledging your many wonderful attributes.
I celebrate my success represents a celebration of self and all the small and big things we do every day to successfully navigate life and to show up for ourselves and others.
I think of it as placing our energy and attention on what is going well in our lives and what we value about ourselves rather than focusing on what’s not perfect, either the things that we get wrong or that we’d like to change about ourselves.
For many of us, what’s not perfect tends to get much more attention than what’s working and going well.
It’s not about sweeping uncomfortable truths under the carpet but about seeing them as part of a bigger picture, about accepting all parts or aspects of ourselves.
This shift in focus, seeing the full picture and giving everything a place, allows us to have a more rounded perspective and to experience more joy in our lives.
Feelings of joy are an indicator that we are on our true path, realising our full potential as human beings.
Attuning to what brings us joy and dedicating time and energy to those things not only makes us feel good, it also unleashes our creativity and brings us closer to our purpose.
This practice supports attuning to joy and gratitude and unlocking the creativity that comes with high vibration emotions.
This Yoga Nidra is for you if you are:
- seeking greater joy and fulfillment in your life.
- would like to have a greater sense of purpose and recognize that doing what you love will guide you towards your purpose
- are interested in the idea that we all have a seed of greatness inside of us, and you want to identify that seed, your unique contribution in the world, and to nurture it. This is often articulated as the inner acorn evolving into an oak tree.
A Yoga Nidra designed to help you to make up for lost sleep. Yoga Nidra is a sleep-based meditation technique, which means that it harnesses the body’s falling asleep mechanism to access a deep state of meditation.
In practice, you are guided from the waking state to a deep sleep state and back to the waking state. It is a consciously-experienced, complete sleep cycle, making it the ultimate power nap - 45 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 2-3 hours of normal sleep.
Ideally the practice is done lying down somewhere where you won’t be disturbed, the conditions in which you would normally go to sleep.
This Yoga Nidra is for you if you:
- have not slept well and are feeling exhausted before the day even gets underway.
- wake up really early and want to extend your sleep hours.
- feel depleted and need an energy boost.
This Yoga Nidra is for you if you:
- suffer from insomnia and have trouble sleeping
- if you have problems dropping off to sleep at night
- if you wake up in the middle of the night and have trouble getting back to sleep.
This Yoga Nidra is designed to help you to fall asleep as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Yoga Nidra is a sleep-based meditation technique, which means that it harnesses the body’s falling asleep mechanism to access a deep state of meditation.
In a typical Yoga Nidra, the practitioner guides you from the waking state to a deep sleep state and back to the waking state, allowing you to have a conscious experience of a full sleep cycle.
This particular Yoga Nidra does not guide you back to the waking state. As the intention of this meditation is to support you in falling asleep, you will be guided to the deepest part of your sleep cycle and the meditation will end there.
Consider the practice to be a tugboat guiding you into your own sleep cycle.
