In this episode of Beyond Motherhood, we’re unpacking why choosing rest feels so bloody uncomfortable, and how that urge to “just do one more thing” is your nervous system stuck in survival mode. I’ll guide you through what’s really going on beneath the surface, why rest is a radical act of self trust and how every time you give yourself permission to soften, you start to rewire your nervous system while also showing your kids that life is not only about productivity... and that rest does NOT need to be earned!

*TW: Self Harm
In today’s episode, I chat with guest, Nicki Lambert, who discovered her daughter was self-harming 6 years ago and went through her own transformation to not only support her daughter through her own challenges, but heal herself along the way. Nicki now supports and coaches other parents who are struggling with their teens do the same through a compassionate and trauma-informed lens, drawing on a variety of modalities.
About Nicki Lambert:
Six years ago, Nicki's world turned upside down when she discovered her daughter was self-harming. It was the wake up call she needed to realise things had to change, SHE had to change if she was going to help her daughter. So began a journey of inner healing, deep self-reflection and a reroute from a hectic corporate career to train as a breathwork, yoga and fascial-energetic bodywork practitioner.
Nicki is passionate about helping others understand how to regulate their nervous systems and allow unprocessed emotion to move through the body in a gentle way, helping the body to come back into a natural state of balance and calm. When we are able to regulate ourselves, we help to co-regulate those around us - making our environments and relationships much more peaceful and nurturing for all.

In this episode, we explore the magic of rituals - not just for your kids, but for you as a mother and woman. Rituals don’t have to be elaborate. They’re the small, intentional moments that help us move from chaos to connection, from survival to sacred. I break down why rituals regulate our nervous systems, deepen family bonds, and help us reclaim our own identity beyond the motherhood hustle. Whether it’s lighting a candle, dancing in the kitchen, or bedtime mantras, this episode will inspire you to create more meaningful moments in your day.

This week on Beyond Motherhood we are chatting about RESISTANCE. Your kiddo wants to play and you feel that RESISTANCE. You want to try a new hobby that feels edgy and you feel the RESISTANCE. You desire to call in like-minded mama friends but feel the RESISTANCE.
So how can we meet this resistance and do it anyway (even an baby step)? We’ll uncover this question and more in the episode.
Some questions you might ask yourself to become more curious of resistance when it shows up:
How does this resistance feel? Where do I feel this resistance in my body? (Tightness in the chest, a knot in the stomach, tension in the jaw?)
What thoughts are coming up and running through my head?
What action do you take from this place (i.e. avoidance?)
How does this resistance serve me? (Is it protecting me, keeping me safe, keeping me small?)
What is the smallest step I could take to meet this resistance with openness?
What would it feel like to move through this resistance with curiosity instead of judgment?

Motherhood is loud, messy, and full of moments that send your brain into panic mode. But what if you could stop the stress spiral before it takes over? In this episode, we’re diving into the power of the mantra “This is not an emergency” - a simple yet life-changing way to soothe your nervous system when chaos hits.
✨ Why motherhood feels like a constant emergency (hint: your brain is wired for survival)
✨ How the fight-flight-freeze response keeps you stuck in stress mode
✨ A powerful mindset shift to interrupt overwhelm and reclaim your calm
✨ Practical regulation tools to reset your body and respond instead of react
Take a deep breath, mama - you’ve got this. Try this mantra when stress creeps in and see how it shifts your energy. And if this episode helped, share it with another mama who needs the reminder!

Mama, it’s time to reclaim your right to pleasure. In this episode of Beyond Motherhood, we’re breaking down the myth that joy, creativity, and play are luxuries that come after the to-do list is done.
You’ll learn:
Pleasure isn’t a reward. It’s your birthright. And when you prioritise it, you don’t just feel better - you show up better for yourself and your family.

Motherhood can be messy, unpredictable, and full of moments that don’t go to plan. And yet, we spend so much energy trying to control it all - our kids’ emotions, the household, the never ending to-do lists - believing that if we just manage everything perfectly, we’ll finally feel calm and in control. But what if the opposite were true?
In this episode, we’re diving into:
Why our need for control is making motherhood harder, not easier
How an overwhelmed nervous system keeps us stuck in the control cycle
The social conditioning that makes us believe we should have it all together
How surrendering creates more joy, connection, and even pleasure in motherhood
If you’re feeling exhausted from trying to hold it all together, this is your permission to let go. Tune in to learn how softening your grip can actually make motherhood feel lighter, easier, and way more enjoyable.

Motherhood changes everything - but it doesn’t mean you have to lose yourself. In this episode, I chat with Kamina James about how mothers can reconnect with their creativity and vocation postpartum. If you’re ready to feel like you again beyond your role as a mama, this one’s for you!About Kamina:Kamina James (@kaminajames) coaches creative women to make steady income out of flexible work so they can have more freedom, especially after having babies.
