4 Exercises When You're Bed-Bound With Adrenal Fatigue

The body needs to move to be healthy, but that’s easier said than done for those who are dealing with fatigue, chronically. Even a 15-20 minute walk can be too much for many people struggling with adrenal fatigue.

Movement is important not only for our physical health; for circulation, digestion, immunity, detoxification, but also for our mental and emotional health. When we exercise we produce the brain's feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins. Endorphins help relieve pain and reduce stress and symptoms of anxiety. Exercise is a great way to get out of our heads, have a brain break especially great for those prone to overthinking and anxiety. Exercise also helps us move through certain emotions and shake off the tension of the day.

But for many who are in the later stages of adrenal fatigue where cortisol is flat-lined and many key hormones are low, you don’t have the energy to exercise. I want to give you 3 alternative exercises so you can still move your body and start to slowly build up your strength and endurance, that will feed you with energy rather than deplete you.

#42: Postpartum Challenges That Reminded Me Of Why I Crashed Originally
As a new parent, of course, one can expect their life to change on many levels.

I wanted to share a few challenges that have popped up for me in my first year as a new mom because they are challenges that remind me of both my own journey back from hormonal burnout and of many of the challenges so many of our clients here at The Adrenal Recovery Collective face daily.

Even as a coach in this realm, I found myself struggling at times and forgetting about all the tools in my arsenal. I found myself getting caught up in the craziness of new motherhood completely. However, at some point, I was able to sit back, assess and see how a few certain patterns could definitely send me back down the path to burnout if I didn't step back into my power.

So in this episode, I discuss:
  • the challenge of eating + nutrition when you're tired
  • the challenge of asking for help
  • the challenge of creating space for me-time and joyful hobbies
  • health anxiety and stressing over symptoms and health situations
I provide some tools and resources that really have supported me this first year in hopes that if you are a tired parent or struggling with burnout, adrenal fatigue, or HPA axis dysfunction in any capacity, this gives you a few practical ideas to help you feel more empowered, balanced and healthy.

#41: Hidden Illnesses That Cause or Accompany Adrenal Fatigue
In this episode, we discuss common and oftentimes hidden illnesses that can cause and/or often accompany adrenal fatigue.

It’s not always clear whether HPA axis dysfunction or Adrenal Fatigue is the chicken or the egg in the situation.

For example, did the mono you had as a kid create so much stress on the body that it hindered your HPA axis creating lasting consequences or was your HPA axis already compromised due to chronic stress, from say childhood trauma or another health issue and that’s why you were more susceptible to mono or other illnesses and have a harder time recovering from them? The answers aren’t always straightforward.

So today we want to discuss a handful of these illnesses or health issues/conditions in hopes to connect some dots and bring awareness to things you need to consider and address with an integrative practitioner so you can finally recover. You'll notice some common themes popping up again and again, showcasing that nothing is happening in isolation.

We hope this brings you some clarity, some ah-ha's, and as always, some hope and empowerment.
