Have you ever wondered why you stay stuck in the same unhelpful nutrition habits, year after year? Eating to potentially reduce your recurrence risk isn’t just following food rules or structured diets; it’s getting crystal clear and brutally honest about your own nutrition habits. Identifying habits that serve you, those that don’t, and understanding what’s truly possible for you to achieve with your food choices after cancer is the key to ending your worry about every bite you take. Even after finishing breast cancer treatment and promising yourself you’d eat perfectly, let’s be honest. . .you’re not sticking with that breast cancer eating plan you swore you’d follow. But what if you’re already doing amazing things to support your breast health with your post-treatment diet, but you just don’t realize it? Whether you finished treatment in the last five weeks, months or years, after today’s episode you’ll understand:
Why you already have great breast cancer nutrition habits, but you discount their impact
Three reasons why you overlook your “second-nature” breast cancer nutrition habits
The way “brainwashing” has you chasing breast cancer nutrition perfection

Thanksgiving is days away, and yes, you need a strategy! Why? Because holiday eating (which unofficially kicked off with Halloween, by the way) can leave you feeling stressed, anxious and guilty. . .which is absolutely not how I want you to feel during this time of family, friends, food and fun. If you routinely come out on the other side of food-focused holidays wishing you could have a do-over, or, beating yourself up about not eating the way your breast cancer survivorship “dictates”, this is the episode for you.

Let me guess. You try really, really hard to eat as many vegetables as you can, as often as you can. And I applaud you for that! The problem you run into is not having them on hand and ready to grab so when you DO want them you’re not spending time prepping them first. The other issue? You know veggies are good for you, but you’re still a bit confused because you’re unsure which is better; potatoes or peas, broccoli or beets, carrots or cucumbers. Seriously, it’s all so confusing! In today’s episode I clear up that vegetable confusion for you and give you one less excuse for not getting that recommended number of servings per day! Join me, won’t you?

When you’re trying to eat in a way that supports your breast and overall health after treatment ends, it’s not uncommon to try following a diet that “in theory” sounds great, but in reality is 100% impractical to execute on a daily basis. In my Peaceful Plate program there are five principles I share for eating with peace after treatment ends; one of them is PRACTICAL, as in, how practical is the dietary approach you’ve decided to take? Let’s explore that together in this episode, join me!

After you’ve finished breast cancer treatment it’s common to think about how you’ll move forward. You probably think all the hard stuff is behind you and you’ll know exactly what to do now that diagnosis and treatment are in the rearview mirror. You think you’ve armed yourself with information about how to eat well so you can move into that “post-treatment phase” feeling confident. Except. . .no one told you to expect that sneaky, pervasive anxiety you feel about your food. In this episode I explore why it may feel like you’re in unchartered food territory with no clue how to get yourself back on solid ground.

Trusting yourself around food after breast cancer treatment ends feels risky, but only when you second-guess yourself because you think there’s a “right or wrong way” to eat now. Because you don’t trust yourself, you create food rules and highly structured order around meals, snacks, grocery shopping and dining out in order to stop feeling like every food decision IS a matter of life or death. In this final episode of my Four-Part Ending Food Fright series, I share why that’s not the way to navigate your food and offer options for “doing” your food differently.

Mental food chatter is often referred to a “food noise”; it’s those persistent, intrusive thoughts about food that can distract you from your daily activities. It hums in the background of your mind, never in “off” mode. Mental food chatter can show up as cravings, planning and re-planning meals, and other behaviors I highlight in this episode. Is there a way to stop the mental food chatter? You know I’ve got you covered on that. . .tune in to Part III of my Ending Food Fright series to learn what mental food chatter is really about, what causes it, and tips for shutting it down!

What’s “trust” have to do with your breast cancer nutrition? EVERYTHING. When you don’t trust yourself to make the right food decisions or know what’s best to eat, the tendency is to fall apart about your food. . .literally. I talk about trusting yourself around food A LOT, and in this second of my four-part series for October, I dig in to where trust comes into play around the idea that you’re doing your food wrong. Which, by the way, you’re not! Join me as I explore the definition of trust and show you how trusting yourself (and your food!) supports your surthrivorship in a big way.

Just because you’re “done” with treatment, it doesn’t mean you’re “done” with the fear, anxiety and uncertainty you experience during ALL the months of the year - including OCTOBER. This is where food comes into the equation; any trepidation you feel about not eating the “right” food is heightened this month, because EVERYTHING about breast cancer is heightened this month - and it’s unsettling. That’s why for the entire month of October I’m doing a four-part “Ending Food Fright” series to help you lay the groundwork for eating with peace, not panic (or fright!), and enjoying your food through October and beyond. Join me now for the series kickoff!

Walking through the world in pink shoes is the way I describe how we, women who’ve had (or have) breast cancer, instantly connect with one another’s experience. I recently had the privilege of attending a breast cancer research fundraising event where pink was on full display and the food was plentiful. Tune in to hear how I navigated the groaning brunch tables and held space for my own breast cancer experience in the midst of 500 people collaborating to eradicate the need for any more breast cancer fundraising events.

Do you ever skip fruits and vegetables, and then feel guilty or anxious about it? You’re not alone. When you don’t eat enough produce on a daily basis, it can make it harder to get the vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants your body needs, and the stress over “not eating right” can ramp up your food anxiety in a hot minute! In this episode, I explore why skipping produce can leave you feeling off balance, both physically and emotionally, and share practical tips for adding more fruits and vegetables in a way that feels doable and practical. You’ll also hear real-life examples about how I help my clients put more plants on their plates.

It’s true, women in the breast cancer community are curious about strict, rule-based eating plans promising to provide optimal treatment outcomes or prevent recurrence. Sadly, rather than deliver on what they promise, these diets create stress, anxiety, and confusion around food. The outcome? Diet abandonment, followed by guilt, shame and feeling like a failure. Not what you want from an eating plan, eh? In this episode, I explain why a “forever” eating plan, one that’s flexible, nourishing, and truly sustainable, is your key to eating with peace. . .forever.

It's Labor Day 2025 and I'm taking a little break! I'll be back next Monday with a new episode, but for today, I'm sharing one of my most popular episodes. If you're new to me you may have missed it, and if you heard it back in June of 2024, it's time for a refresher! Enjoy the episode and be sure to let me know your thoughts about it by leaving a review! Thanks :)_____________________________
Now that you’ve finished treatment, no doubt you want to know exactly what’s best to eat to reduce your recurrence risk. Because you’re led to believe there’s one single diet that will make that happen, it can feel frustrating not to find a consistent answer about what that diet looks like. In this episode I invite you to ask a different question; “What’s best for me to eat after hormone-driven breast cancer to end my panic about recurrence risk?”
